Swatching Instructions:
CO 32 stitches. Knit 2x2 ribbing (K2, P2) for 5”. Measure the # of stitches in 4” in the rib pattern, and the # of rows in 4”. Record these counts on your pattern as “Unblocked Gauge”. Then, soak your swatch in room temperature water for at least 30 minutes, take it out of the water, gently press out the water, and lay flat to dry. When completely dry, measure the stitch and row counts, and record on your pattern. These are the numbers that will be used to determine size.
**Notes**
1. Yardage for swatching is usually included in the pattern yardage requirements. However, it is a good idea to save your swatch “just in case!”
2. The #6 needle is the suggested size for getting gauge, but depending on yarn and/or your personal knitting style, you may need to use a different size needle to get gauge.
3. It will be to your advantage to have the swatching process completed by the first meeting on October 3rd.
