Winter Sweater Doodle - Virtual
The Winter Doodle Sweater is a fun “design your own” journey with the sweater pattern and doodle patterns from Jamie Lomax. Whether you want a holiday theme or just your favorite color work designs from Jamie, now is the time to plan and start making it. The Doodle Sweater has a circular yoke into which you knit your selected color work designs. You may be as free and creative with designs and colors as you want. You choose whether you want only the yoke in color work or an entire color-work sweater. This is a fun time to start a sweater that you can work on through the fall and have ready for winter events.
Class: VIRTUAL* - Winter Doodle Sweater by Jamie Lomax
Skill Level: Advanced Beginner to Intermediate - prior experience with stranded colorwork is recommended.
Must Know Beforehand: Casting on, knit and purl stitches.
Class / Knit-along Sessions:
Virtual Design Session*: Two-hour pattern review and color work/design. We will pick your colors. Potential color combos will be shown. Do not purchase your yarn before the class. After class, you can contact the shop with colors you are considering, and they will send you pictures of the colors.
Virtual Knit-along Sessions: Three additional dedicated knit-along times will be held with Kay to support your progress. Virtual knit-along sessions will be on September 29th, October 20th, and November 17th. There will be in-person opportunities to try on for fit and consider how far you want to go in adding doodles to your sweater at Knit Paper Scissors on September 23rd, October 21st, and November 18th at 12 noon.
*Class will be taught via Zoom. Upon registration, you will receive the code for this class.
*Design Session will be recorded for your future reference.
*Participants are welcome to attend in-person Knit-along sessions as well.

Supplies Needed:- Main Fabric: US #5 16" - 24" - 32" or size to obtain gauge.
- Ribbing: US #4 16" - 24" - 32" or one size smaller than gauge needle. We highly recommend using interchangeable needles.
- Cotton waste yarn to hold sleeve stitches
- Tapestry needle
- Tape Measure
- Scissors
- Stitch markers and beginning of round marker
- Recommended Yarn - Berroco Vintage dk
Homework:
- Print the pattern. The pattern is included with the class and will be placed in your Ravelry library.
- Read the pattern before class and circle your size throughout the pattern.
- Review finished projects on Ravelry.
- A set of colored pencils.
- Select patterns from the 51 designs in the pattern, The Doodle Knit Directory" or Doodle Packs. You will be working with 12- and 24-stitch pattern repeats.
Directions for Swatch:
- Gauge is 24 stitches and 24 rows in colorwork knitting in the round.
- You will do the swatch after the design session.
- You will receive guidance based on the selected designs and yarn.
Classes with fewer than three students will be canceled 72 hours before the start date; participants will receive a full refund. No refund will be issued for canceled registration 72 hours before class.

| Instructor Bio: | I began knitting as a teenager when I was mentored by a master knitter in our church. Over the years, I have had periods where I could fit in the time to knit and others when my family and professional career moved knitting to the side. What I quickly found out was you can be away from your craft for years and miraculously it all returns again. Education was a major part of my professional life and I am so glad to have the opportunity to teach and mentor others in my knitting passion in retirement. I have experienced most types of knitting, and thoroughly enjoy techniques of stranding, cabling, lace, and mosaics. In addition to the technical aspects of knitting, I have so much fun in the color world – helping others to select colors for projects they want to do. My closet is full of sweaters, shawls of various sizes and shapes, ponchos, mittens, and cowls. Knitting is a journey that I love being on. |
