Sweater Description:

First published in 2009 as a long tunic with a cowl neck, the White Russian pattern has been updated and re-released in 2021 as a classic pullover, worked in either a cropped or hip length.

Using the lace and rib combination from my 2009 fitted tunic design, I’ve reinterpreted White Russian as a more versatile cropped pullover!

I have reworked the design into a classic raglan top with an open neckline. White Russian still features a simple lace rib on front and back, ribbed sides, top down seamless construction, and stockinette sleeves.

The open lace rib and the lightweight wool make it a perfect year-round layer, and the detail and shape of this pullover make for a sweater that goes with anything.

The bold lace shows up beautifuly in either a smooth or slightly rustic DK yarn, with strong lines that manage to shine through a little vareigation - allowing for a lot of possible yarn subs as well.

The updated pattern includes notes for making either a cropped or traditional length pullover, as well as for adding a cowl to the neckline.

And if you DO want to create the original fitted tunic, you still can - just choose a size with a little less ease and work a longer body. The pattern is easily modified for either length or width, and instructions are included on how to do so. The ribbing along the sides gives you pretty unlimited shaping options as you work down the body.
